The 25-year-old was even bashed by Rihanna after he promoted 'managed anorexia' - but has today insisted the campaign was a hoax to prove to a pal he could become a trending topic on Twitter in the space of a week.
He also revealed he's had to go into hiding in the South of France after receiving death threats about his shocking comments.
Kenneth said: "Even my own friends have turned against me - but it was an exercise that I wanted to keep up for a week.
"I love to be challenged. It was so illogical a concept. It did not make sense but so many people bought into it. I proved how easy it is to become a global phenomena in the age of instant media."
His sick messages included: "Don't let the fat masses oppress you from your goals. You deserve a skinny body" and "To be thinner, skip dinner. Anorexia is not evil, it is an oft mismanaged blessing."
But after his twisted posts were retweeted through cyber space, a number of stars quickly spoke out to condemn his messages.
Rihanna, 22, wrote: "Girls are dying all over the world because of ignorant individuals like this@MrKennethTong."Young ladies, love yourself! Your skin, your booty, your hair... You're all beautiful! Keep your hearts pure! Love and laugh, and live life."
The Saturdays' Rochelle Wiseman told Tong: "Your tweets are upsetting a lot of people, including myself! It's very vile! (sic)"
But he hit back: "If you were fat, do you think would you've been part of the Saturdays?"
Hundreds of Twitter users also called for Kenneth's page to be shut down.
Today he wrote on Twitter: "I think it is time for to come clean. The whole size zero thing is a hoax. It came about after an interesting discussion I had with a friend of mine.
'Vile' ... Rochelle Wiseman
"My friend said it wasn't possible. I said it was. To prove him wrong, I decided as a hoax to promote via Twitter something that was universally appalling, I chose managed anorexia.
"I would like to make it clear, I chose the subject as a hoax as I knew it'd be appalling to men and women. The campaign has worked; I have been a Trending topic on Twitter for over a week. I am scheduled to appear on TV, the Press and Radio shows, over the course of the next week.
"Now it's time to come clean and stop the bandwagon. My honest personal opinion on managed anorexia is it is an disgusting and illogical idea.
"It is a mental illness. It cannot be managed. To all the people I have offended as part of this scientific experiment, I would like to apologise to you and to show my sincerity I will making a sizeable donation to beat: the leading UK charity for people with eating disorders and their families.
"Furthermore, I have decided to auction my custom Apple iPod Nano watch on Ebay, the proceeds from this will be going to the charity, beat."
Kenneth's ex-girlfriend Karly Ashworth - who also starred in Big Brother in 2009 - had launched a counter campaign against his pro-anorexia Tweets.
