The Aussie mentor fell out with Sharon, 58, when they were sat on the ITV1 show's judging panel in 2007.
Their duo's relationship was so icy that The Osbournes star quit the competition - and later branded Dannii as "f***ing useless".
And Dannii, 39, claimed Sharon was a bully in her autobiography, which was published last year.
X Factor boss Simon Cowell has been rumoured to be considering bringing back Sharon and warned at last night's National Television Awards that viewers should expect big changes.
He explained neither Dannii or Irish judge Louis Walsh had received their contracts for this year's series of the singing competition.
Speaking about rumours that Sharon may return, Dannii said: "I'm not worried about Sharon going back - it's up to them to recruit whoever they want.
"The X Factor is a great show and I thought I had a great year last year."
Dannii, who is dating ex-rugby player Kris Smith, took the chance to praise 51-year-old Simon.
She said: "Simon mentored me into The X Factor judging role. He advised me to make sure I had an opinion and to be able explain to anybody, at any time, why that was my opinion."
Speaking to mydaily.co.uk Dannii added: "He told me to take all of my experience, all of the ups and all of the down and put it into my mentoring."
"As X Factor judges, I think Cheryl [Cole] and I mentor in a completely different way from Simon and Louis because they don't know what it's like to stand up there on stage with a microphone in their hand when the lights come on and someone says: 'go'."
