Family matters: Natalie Portman is to put her acting career on hold with a well-earned break after her baby is born
Natalie Portman is to take a break from movies now that she is pregnant.
The 29-year-old, who won best actress at the Golden Globes for her role in Black Swan, has pulled out of the film adaptation of novel Cloud Atlas.
‘Natalie has made eight films in three years and will take a well-earned rest after her baby is born in the summer,’ says a source.
‘She is looking forward to taking a break from the spotlight and concentrating on her family.’
Natalie stunned Hollywood last month when she announced that she was engaged to Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied and was carrying his baby.
She met the 33-year-old when he choreographed her intensive ballet training for the movie.
Portman is widely tipped to win this year's Best Actress Oscar believe Oscar for her outstanding performance as Nina Sayer, a tortured and obsessive ballet performer who barely eats in Darren Aronofsky's latest directorial outing.
But creating the performance of her career took its toll on the 29-year-old actress.
‘It was more difficult than anything I’ve ever experienced before. I like to go home and be myself but with this one I didn’t get the chance. It didn’t leave me', she said.

Now actress Emma Watson has left Hogwarts behind her she is learning to conjure up delights in the kitchen.
The 20-year-old Harry Potter star, who is studying for an arts degree at Brown University in America, will use her holidays to take cooking lessons from the executive chef at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in London, which boasts two Michelin stars.
‘Emma wants to be able to impress her friends – she loves to throw fabulously catered dinner parties,’ says a pal.
