We've all heard of the ugly duckling who became a swan but as these fascinating pictures show, the transformation can happen in the real world too.
Christine Bleakley is one of the highest-paid presenters on British television but her teenage schoolmates in Northern Ireland probably never thought their frizzy-haired classmate would become a star.
But over 20 years on and the County Down girl is one of the most appealing faces on TV and has an England footballer partner to prove it.

Bleakley's not the only telly star who's blossomed, with her Daybreak co-host Adrian Chiles now on a multimillion-pound contract having been a Midlands schoolboy cursed with huge glasses and an unfortunate haircut.
Chris Evans still has that shock of red hair, but he's swapped naff V-neck jumpers for designer suits while Gabby Logan has transformed from a tomboy teen to an Amazonian blonde.
