Keys to play Albert Hall concert

Alicia Keys at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend

Alicia Keys has announced that she'll be playing a one-off gig at the Royal Albert Hall on 13 June.

The singer will perform alone, accompanied only by her piano, in a special concert to mark the 10th anniversary since the release of Grammy Award-winning Songs In A Minor.

She told Newsbeat: "It's incredible that I've been able to make it 10 years and here we are celebrating that.

"London is so good to me. I want to show my gratitude."

Keys will be releasing a deluxe edition of Songs In A Minor, along with 10 new tracks which she wrote at the time.

She admits it's emotional looking back to that period, when it was "just me and the keyboard".

'Testament to music'

She added: "I think back to a time when I barely thought an album would be able to come out just because there were so many trials and tribulations.

"When the record did finally come out and was able to be heard and people fell in love with it it was a testament to doing great music and not allowing people's negativity stop you from what you dream."

Jennifer Aniston Jennifer Aniston is spearheading a film project which Keys is involved in

Keys is currently working on a new album in LA, which is she says is coming together "incredibly well".

She's also directing her first short film as part of a project organised by Jennifer Aniston.

The 30 minute films, which will be directed by five different women, focus on the issue of breast cancer.

Keys explained: "The five stories surround five different women from five different backgrounds and how it affects their families, their lives, their work, their jobs, their self-esteem… everything.

'So excited'

"After those five shorts have been directed they all connect to be one incredible story where all the characters are intertwined.

"It's pretty amazing. My particular short has three incredible actresses in it and I'm so excited as to who's signed on - it's pretty nuts."

As well as making her directorial debut, Keys will also host and perform at Black Ball UK on 15 June for her charity Keep A Child Alive.

And then there's the task of looking after new son Egypt Raoud Dean, who was born to Keys and rapper Swizz Beatz back in October.

"It's the coolest thing in the whole wide world. He's my co-director," she said.

Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys takes place on Monday 13 June at the Royal Albert Hall.

Songs In A Minor: Deluxe Edition is released on 27 June.
